Of the many bagpipes in the world probably the most recognizable is the Great Highland Bagpipe (GHB) from Scotland. The GHB is traditionally made from African blackwood. The bag is traditionally made from sheepskin or elkhide.
I play Strathmore Bagpipes which were custom made for me by Murray Henderson. The chanter is a Blackwood Strathmore. The pipes have a quarter set of silver with the thistle design. The reeds are all cane.
There are many website's dedicated to bagpipes, one of the best is Andrews Lenz bagpipe journey on my links page. He has everything you'll need to know. However please feel free to email me with your questions.
